Iris

Sapphire • Tanzanite • Rubellite • Diamond • Coloured gemstone

The idea behind it

Iris is the broadest collection in the house, and the one that most closely reflects what actually passes through a Jaipur gemstone office in a working week. Sapphire is the spine of it — blue, yellow, pink, and the untreated grey-blue material that collectors ask for by name — but tanzanite, spinel, tourmaline and rubellite appear wherever a stone earns its place.

The collection exists because the stones do. A single exceptional gem arrives, and it needs a piece built around it rather than a piece it can be fitted into. That makes Iris less a themed line than an ongoing record of what the house has found: rings and pendants dominate, because a single fine stone is best served by a setting that does not divide attention.

For a buyer, this is the collection to look at when the stone matters more than the format. Origin is disclosed where it is known and documented, treatment is disclosed always, and anything unusual is explained rather than glossed — a stone with a story is worth more when the story is true and told plainly.

Pieces are hand-finished in Sitapura, and most can be adapted in metal, size or setting on request.

Pear Tanzanite Cluster Earrings

TANZANITE • 18K ROSE GOLD

Five pear tanzanites per ear, set point-to-point in a fan with no metal visible between them and no diamonds at all. The stones vary slightly in tone from violet to blue, which is what tanzanite does under different angles of light and is worth letting show rather than matching out.
