The showroom on M.I. Road

Of the jewellery shops in Jaipur, this is one of the few where the house that sells the piece also made it. The showroom is in Khetan Bhawan on M.I. Road, in the working centre of the city rather than in a tourist market or a mall. It is a room of backlit vitrines and it is quiet. There is no queue and no counter you are steered towards.

You will see pieces from the seven collections — emerald, ruby, sapphire, tanzanite, polki and diamond — across rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, bangles and cufflinks. Everything on the floor was made in our own atelier at Sitapura, so if you want to know how a stone was chosen or how a setting was worked, someone here can tell you.

Pieces are brought out to be handled, and shown under warm light and under daylight, because a stone that reads one way under a spotlight can read another way at the window. If you are choosing an emerald or a sapphire, ask to take it into the daylight.

If you have something in mind that we do not have, that conversation starts here as well. A commission begins with a discussion of the occasion, the stone and the budget, and sketches follow. If you would like to see how the work is done, the Sitapura atelier can be visited by appointment, and the Gyan Museum can be seen on the same visit.
